Dr. Mathias Adamu is an accomplished energy professional with nearly two decades of experience across the oil and gas value chain. He has led high-impact initiatives in upstream development, regulatory reform, and stakeholder engagement within Nigeria’s energy sector.
He has held several senior advisory positions, including:
Technical Assistant to the Minister of Petroleum Resources and the NNPC Board Chair
Senior Technical Adviser at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources
Special Adviser to the NNPC Board
In these roles, Dr. Adamu played a pivotal part in the drafting and implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA 2021). He also served as a proxy Director at NLNG and Bonny Gas Transport, where he supported governance, oversight, and strategic alignment.
Dr. Adamu holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Energy) from Columbia Southern University, an MSc in Computer Networks from the University of Portsmouth, and a B.Tech in Operations Research from the Federal University of Technology, Yola.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria and is recognized as the first verified fraud investigator in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. In addition, he is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK) and the Nigerian Institute of Management.
